Dear Friends

You have hopefully all arrived back home well from the ESG Seminar and Leadershiptraining in Finland or have enjoyed the stories, your countries’ delegation shared with you;-)! Yes, if you weren’t there, you surely missed something great, but don’t worry, the next chance is waiting for you next September in Switzerland;-)! We are looking forward to welcoming you there!!

Let me share a little bit about my excitement for the network we all have through ESG… After the Seminar in Finland, two of us Swiss participants planned some extra days to visit other parts of the country before flying back home. We had no idea where to go or what to do. As we can say now, this wasn’t necessary either…

First, one of the Finnish Seminar trainers called a Scout friend of his who lives further up in the north… So we drove up north, where this Scout friend was already waiting for us. A tourist agency couldn’t have planned the days we spent up there better! We got to stay in two typical Finnish cottages, rode on a Scout Canoe and got to see places, normal tourists probably wouldn’t have been able to see. From there we drove to another city, where again an ESG friend was already waiting for us. Also there, we experienced what it means to belong to a huge network. We got city tours, Sauna visits and delicious food specialities we won’t forget so soon.

So as you can tell, ESG and the YWCA/YMCA it belongs to, is not just an organisation to plan events. No, it’s also a travel agency, a huge circle of friends, a pool of new ideas, the taste of many different ways of living and doing youth work and I’m sure you could think of maaaaaany more things! Let’s use and get involved in this network and be thankful for being a part of it!
